NZ Accommodation - Nibble Nook | Tapapa, Waikato
I’ve now stayed at Nibble Nook in Tapapa, Waikato, twice. Both were for working retreats with Tracey Hancock - Life Coach. We went away full of enthusiasm and motivation for really digging down into our work for 3 days and 2 nights, and both times, Nibble Nook delivered.
It’s a pretty remote location, set on a working Cattle Farm, but that’s the biggest appeal of it. It’s so peaceful. In fact the most noise I’ve heard while I was there was when the cows all came to visit while I sat on the deck eating my breakfast. Very nosey. Very cute.
The cottage is well set up for many intentions - it has been great as a working retreat location with decent internet and a well-set-up work space in the living area, but it’s also perfect for a romantic weekend away, or just a quiet escape from normal life.
There are no supermarkets or takeaways nearby, so take your own food and drink, but the host, Sandra, has thought of absolutely everything. The kitchen has a full set up, to cook whatever you may need, and there’s a heat pump as well as warm, soft blankets for the chillier nights. Netflix is ready to go, and there are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - perfect for those of us with delicate stomachs that don’t like to share a bathroom when travelling, if at all possible! The showers are hot and with great water pressure (very important!)
Both bedrooms are very Instagram-able, with beautiful views of the surrounding farmland, and the comfiest queen-size beds. And if you’re travelling with friends, the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the cottage, so you can split off if you need to, with a bathroom at each end as well.
Outside on the deck are a pair of bathtubs. The listing on Off the beaten track says it’s for stargazing at night in a warm bath, but Tracey and I decided to use them for a cold plunge in the morning instead. That early spring country water is COLD!!!!
It’s been a while since I’ve headed out to Nibble Nook, it’s only about a 35 minute drive from Tauranga, but it feels a million miles away. I really must book another weekend working retreat.
Oh… I almost forgot to mention one of the best bits - the stunning sunrises and sunsets from Nibble Nook. If you’re a bit of a sunset nerd like me (only because I’m not often awake early enough for the sunrises!) you’ll get views like this. Perfection.
Be prepared for a long, rustic, gravel driveway from the road to get you to Nibble Nook. It’s an easy drive, just take it slow and keep an eye out for cows!
So, for a productive working weekend retreat, a romantic getaway or just a trip away from the noise of normal life - visit Nibble Nook, in Tapapa in the Waikato. I love it here!
